Black Storyville, The Neville Brothers, and Sons and Daughters

Kewego Video Player

All that Jazz ! 400 Block of South Rampart Street, New Orleans, Louisiana. Eagle Saloon - major gig of Buddy Bolden, Jane Alley - birthplace of Louis Armstrong, The Iroquois Theater, Karnofsky's Store that's all what is left from Black Storyville. Few deteriorating, unmarked buildings sticking out among myriad of parking lots and ugliness of modern high rises. Desolate day and night. Billion dollar Trump Center and another billion dollar project Jazz Hall of Fame are projected on the spot of hideous New Orleans City Hall.

I'm not gonna die - Blanka in June, 2007 - days before the MURDER

Kewego Video Player

Telephone conversation with mother when Blanka was reassuring her mother "I'm not gonna die". Pregnant, in June New Orleans' subtropic heat and humidity, Blanka visited her father. Despite Blanka's father's presence, support, providing shopping for Blanka's safety; visiting and spending time with his Daughter, Blanka knew how her mother worried. New Orleans was ruled by anarchy and crime, on behalf of the hurricane from 2 years prior. It was also the most, and unprecedented difficult time in Blanka's life, which made her vulnerable to L.S.U. University Hospital's weekend interns and residents, without their superiors. Mother was begging Blanka to come home, and she would had come, if it wasn't for premature pregnancy's complications. The telephone contact with mother in this recording was few; three days (?) before Blanka's murder on June 25th, 2007. We drove together to the hospital ( staying on the telephone ), and I hear everything what was happening during the admission -Death Sen

The Falling Domino - Gdansk 1989-2009

Kewego Video Player

Poland and Germany commemorate 20th anniversary of Round Table Talks: democracy and freedom in Europe 05.02.2009 The first session of the Polish Round-Table Talks took place in Warsaw on 6 February 1989. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of this first session, Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his Polish opposite number Radoslaw Sikorski will next Monday (9 February) discuss with eye-witnesses and intellectuals as well as European Youth Parliament alumni what role the trade union Solidarnosc and the Round-Table Talks played in bringing about the peaceful revolutions in Eastern Europe. The term "Round Table" acquired its specific contemporary meaning from the talks and negotiations conducted between the Polish Government and Opposition movements such as Solidarnosc over the period 1988 to 1989. As a token of growing democratic empowerment, the new round-table negotiating format was adopted also in the former GDR, the former Czechoslovakia and Hungary. The two-hour discussion is being organized by the Federal Foreign Office in cooperation with the Heinz Schwarzkopf Foundation "Young Europe". In addition to co-founders of Solidarnosc and historians of both countries, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, Lothar de Maizière and Markus Meckel will be among the invited guests.
